This Gigaset User Level Manual is generic based on the C530 handset. It will show you how to handle basic phone features such as: gigaset call forwarding, call waiting, how to make call transfers and how to make conference calls.

In this first section of the C530 IP manual we will show you how to install the Gigaset IP phone and configure its basic functions. Get to know its keys and how to operate it for optimal configuration and installation.
1. What are the Gigaset IP phone keys?
In this section of the Gigaset IP Phone Manual, we will first learn about the phone keys and other important elements that will help us to know how to use this terminal so that the configuration is a simple task.
1) LCD screen: Displays phone idle information about battery charge status, calls, messages, time, date, calendar and other necessary data.
2) Status bar: the icon suggests the operating status of the phone, whether it requires charging its battery.
3) Display keys: these keys are assigned to the Gigaset phone when it is idle and have the functions of viewing the list of incoming and outgoing calls, as well as the calendar. We will see later the functionality of these keys with the phone active or how to modify the configuration of these keys on the phone.

2. How does the base station of a Gigaset IP phone work?

1) Paging Key:
- If it lights up: we will know that the LAN connection is active (i.e. the phone is connected to the router)
- If it flashes: we will know that data transmission is occurring via LAN connection.

1. How to make a call with a Gigaset IP phone by dialing the number?
To make a call when we do not have the contact entered in the phonebook, enter the contact number using the numeric keypad and press the off-hook key .

The redial list contains the last 20 numbers dialed on the handset.
The redial list can be accessed in two different ways:
- Quick way via the off-hook button: the complete list of outgoing, incoming and missed calls is accessed.

From the call list, locate the contact with the center key of the terminal and press the off-hook key again to start the communication once the number has been selected:
- Through the call log from the terminal menu: the advantage is to be able to see the call log sorted in different lists according to missed, incoming and outgoing calls.

From the terminal menu, find the call list icon with the help of the movement key . Press «OK» to access it:
Now the complete list of calls is shown divided in sections:
- All calls
- Outbound calls
- Accepted calls

Select the listing where the desired phone number is located. Click on the «OK» key to confirm:
In the phone list, find the contact using the central key of the terminal and to redial, press the off-hook key again to start the communication:
3. How to make a call to a contact in the phonebook with a Gigaset IP phone?
Access the Gigaset phonebook by pressing on the bottom of the central key of the handset when it is in idle state:
In the list of saved phones, search for the contact using the center key up or down . Select the contact and press the off-hook button to start establishing the communication:
4. How to make direct calls with a Gigaset IP phone?
There is an option to configure the phone so that pressing any key on the phone will make a call directly to a predefined number. This is a very useful feature to use for elderly people or children who are not yet able to enter a phone number.
4.1. How to activate direct calling on a Gigaset IP phone?
1. Press the central control key of the handset to access the menu screen:

4. In the direct call section, first modify the Status by using the middle key on the right to change from Disabled to Enabled.
Second, scroll to the «Call number» option. Set here the predefined number to which the direct call will be made from any key on the terminal. The number can be set in two ways:
1. Directly using the numeric keypad of the terminal:
Press <c if we want to delete and rewrite any number.
2. From the phone book:
Click on the phonebook option.
Locate the previously saved number using the movement keys and accept to confirm.
Press the Save key to confirm the changes.
The terminal in idle state will now display the following screen:
It can be checked by pressing any key on the phone to make a call to the predefined number.
4.2. How to disable direct calls on a Gigaset IP phone?
If the direct call is active, it will be reflected on the handset display. To deactivate, first click on the «turn off» button.
At this point, a message will appear informing you that to deactivate the direct call, you have to long press the # key.
Put the phone back to idle, and proceed to press the # key for about 5 seconds.
The direct call will be deactivated and the terminal will show the usual status on the display.
How to answer a call with a Gigaset IP phone?
1. How to answer an incoming call with a Gigaset IP phone?
You can answer an incoming call in two ways:
1. press the off-hook key when the phone is ringing.
2. Remove the handset from the charging cradle if the Auto Answer is active.
2. How to manage calls on hold with a Gigaset IP phone?
If during an external communication a new call is received, you will hear the call waiting alert tone and you will see on screen the phone number or name of the person who is making this other call.
At this point there are two possible options: answer the call or reject it.
How to reject a Gigaset call on hold?
To reject a second call that comes in on the line and is on hold, follow these steps:.
- Press the Options button:
- Using the control key , select Refuse call and accept to confirm the rejection.
How to accept a Gigaset call on hold?
During a call, if a new call on hold comes on the line, there is the possibility to accept it by pressing the Accept key.
At this point, the first call will be put on hold..
To answer the first held call again: once you want to resume the first held call, press the hang-up key during the second call.
3. How to enable / disable automatic call acceptance on a Gigaset IP phone?
Auto call acceptance will allow you to answer incoming calls quickly by simply removing the handset from its charging cradle when an incoming call rings.
To activate automatic call acceptance, follow these steps:
1. Press the terminal control key and access the central menu:

How to hang up a call with a Gigaset IP phone?
There are two ways to hang up a call with Gigaset:
1. Place the phone in the charging station.
2. Press the hang up key on the phone.
How to manage call settings with a Gigaset IP phone?
During a call, you can make multiple settings: volume if you can’t hear the other party well, activate hands-free if you want someone else to hear whoever is on the other end, mute the microphone if you don’t want the other party to hear something, etc.

To activate or deactivate the Handsfree mode during a communication, press the off-hook key .

To reactivate the microphone, press the middle right key again :

How to configure the phonebook of a Gigaset IP phone?
You have the option to copy all contacts from an old handset or enter new ones in different ways. The different options are listed below:
1. How to create new contacts in the phonebook of a Gigaset IP phone?
Access the Gigaset IP phone’s phonebook by pressing the control key at the bottom . It shows the contacts already entered in it was previously made.
With the help of the arrow keys of the control button access the New Entry option and press OK.
Name: enter the name using the keyboard. To delete, use the <c key.
Surname: scroll to Surname using the lower control key . Using the keyboard, enter the text (you can also leave it blank if desired).
Phone: scroll to the phone option using the bottom control button . Choose between Phone (home), Phone (office) or Mobile phone and enter the number again using the numeric keypad. Confirm by pressing Save.
There is the option to add some additional data such as the birthday (anniversary) date or to assign a different recognition melody when the contact makes a call. These two options can be configured by clicking on them and following the indicated steps, it is very simple.
2. How to add the number displayed on the screen to the phonebook contacts of a Gigaset IP phone?
Another option to enter a new contact in the Gigaset handset, is the following:
Enter the phone number directly via the numeric keypad and press the Agenda key:
In the New Registration option, press OK:
Choose how to register the contact (move right or left using the middle arrow keys ):
Home
Office
Mobile
Once selected, press Accept.
Once inside the contact record, enter the contact data:
Name: enter the name using the keyboard. To delete, use the <c key.
Surname: scroll to Surname using the lower control key . Using the keyboard, enter the text (you can also leave it blank if desired).

3. How to add a contact from the call history in Gigaset IP phone?
Press the call log key on the main screen of the phone:
Moving the arrow keys select the call list where the number you want to register is located and press Accept:
Once again, use the arrow keys select the phone number to be registered and then press the Options key:
Now 3 options will be shown on the screen:
- Save to address book.
- Delete record (to delete this phone number from the call list)
- Save to phone book.
- Clear entire list (to delete the entire call list).
Select the Save to Phonebook option and press the OK key:
Using the arrow keys on the control button scroll to the New Entry option and press OK.

4. How to modify contacts on a Gigaset IP phone?
To edit a contact once it is saved in the phone’s address book, follow the steps below:
Access the phonebook by pressing the control key at the bottom .
The contacts already entered in it are shown below and with the help of the arrow keys of the control button locate the contact you want to edit and press the Options key:
Once inside the list of options, use the center button direction key , scroll to Edit the record and press the OK key:
All the options of the register that can be modified are now displayed. Using the arrow keys it will be possible to scroll through the options. Edit the necessary one (it is possible to delete with the <c key and type with the numeric keypad). Press the Save key to finalize and register all the changes.
5. How to delete a contact on a Gigaset IP phone?
Access the phone book by pressing the control key at the bottom .
In the contact list of the phonebook and with the help of the arrow keys of the control button locate the contact to edit and press the Options key:
Once inside the list of options, using the center button direction key , scroll to Delete record and press OK:
The contact will be deleted from the Gigaset IP phonebook without further ado.
6. How to transfer contacts to another handset from a Gigaset IP phone?
This section of the Gigaset IP Phone Manual will show you how to transfer the phonebook from the handset. Several requirements must be taken into account:
- The source and destination handsets must be registered to the same base station.
- The other cordless handset and the base station can send and receive phonebook entries from the handset.
NOTE:
- When receiving a call during transmission, the transmission will be interrupted.
- Contact images and sounds will not be transferred. Only the dates of anniversaries will be transferred.
- When transferring a record in vCard format between two compatible wireless phones: if no record with that name exists on the receiving phone, a new contact record will be created in the phonebook.
- If a record with the same name already exists, this record will remain the same or expanded with the new information if it exists. If the result is a record with more numbers than allowed, a new record with the same name will be generated.
- If the receiving terminal does not support the vCard format: a new record will be created for each number.
- If your cordless handset receives the records from another cordless handset without vCard: the records whose numbers are already stored in your phonebook will be discarded; otherwise a new record will be generated for each number.
It is possible to make a bulk transfer of the entire phone book, of a specific record or of several records. We see each of the cases below:
1. How to transfer a contact from a Gigaset IP phone?
Access the phone’s contact book: press the control key at the bottom .
In the contact list of the phone book and with the help of the arrow keys of the control button locate the contact you want to transfer and press the Options key:

Now, select the To other terminal destination option and press OK:
The associated wireless handsets will then be displayed. Select the terminal to which you wish to make the transfer and Accept.
2. How to transfer the complete phonebook of a Gigaset IP phone?
Access the phone’s phonebook by pressing the control key at the bottom .
In the contact list of the phonebook and with the help of the arrow keys of the control button select a contact at random and press the Options key:
Within the list of options, using the center button direction key , select the option Send all list and press the OK key:
Select the To another terminal destination option and press OK:
The wireless handsets associated with the Gigaset handset will now be displayed. Select the handset to which you want to make the transfer and press the OK key.
How to set up Gigaset call waiting?

1. How to activate / deactivate call waiting on a Gigaset IP phone?
While call waiting Gigaset is activated, you will receive during an external communication, a call waiting alert tone and an on-screen message when a new external party is trying to communicate.
To activate the call waiting function, follow the steps below:
Press the terminal control key to access the central menu:
Using the arrow keys, find the Network services option and press the OK key once selected:
Among the options, using the control button locate Calls waiting and press the OK key:
Once in the Calls waiting option, you can activate or deactivate. Make the desired selection using the center direction button and press the Send key to confirm.
2. How to accept / reject a call on hold during another call with a Gigaset IP phone?
If during an external communication a new call is received, the call waiting tone will be heard and it will be possible to see on the screen the phone number or name of the person who is making this other call.
At this point there are two possible options:
- Rejecting the call on hold: To reject a second call that comes in on the line and remains on hold, you need to follow these steps:
- Press the Options button
- Using the control key , select the Reject call option and accept to confirm the rejection.
- Accept call waiting: when we are on a call and we get a new call on the line that is on hold, we can accept it by pressing the Accept key.
At this point, the first call will be put on hold.
Return to answer the first call on hold: once you want to resume the first call on hold, press the hang-up key during the second call.
How to make a conference call with a Gigaset IP phone?
During an active call, there is the option to add another contact to the conversation and have a 3 way call. This is known as a conference call and the following steps must be followed. Pay close attention!
During an active call, a new call comes in. To join the new caller, press the Confer. (conference) key.
To remove the last caller from the conference, press the End key.
Each of the interlocutors can hang up and leave the conference by pressing the hang up key .
How to transfer calls with a Gigaset IP phone?
Transfer Gigaset call: there is the option to make internal and external telephone transfers. Each of the options are detailed below.
1. How to make an internal phone transfer with a Gigaset IP phone?
Internal transfers refer to when you want to transfer a call to an internal department or extension in a company. To be able to make internal call transfers, the handsets, in addition to being Gigaset, have to be configured on the same wireless network.
To make an internal call transfer with a Gigaset phone, follow the steps below:
1. During a call, press the center left direction key . The list of available wireless terminals will now be displayed.
2. Use the arrow keys to select the terminal to which the transfer should be directed and press the OK key to confirm.
2. How to perform an external phone transfer with a Gigaset IP phone?
This is when you want to transfer to an external number the received call. Proceed as follows to do so:
During the active call, press the key displayed as Llam. ext. (external call).
You will then be prompted to enter (using the numeric keypad) the phone number to which you want to transfer the call. Press Finish to start transferring the call.
How to make calls with hidden number with a Gigaset IP phone?

How to manage Gigaset call forwarding?
With call forwarding you transfer calls to another handset. Differentiate between:
- Internal call forwarding
- Call forwarding to an external phone number
How to activate external call forwarding with a Gigaset IP phone?
It is possible to set up a specific forwarding for each number, i.e. for each connection (fixed network number and connection) that is assigned as a receiving connection to the cordless phone. > Network-services > Accept > Divert > Accept > Select receive connection > Accept .
Status: Enabled / Disabled Disabled
Destination number: Enter the number to which you want to forward the call.
For each connection it is possible to enter a different landline, VoIP or cell phone number.
To activate call forwarding from a Gigaset.net number you need to enter another Gigaset.net number.
When: Immediate / If busy / If unanswered.
- Immediate: Calls are forwarded directly, i.e. no call is indicated on the phone for this connection anymore.
- If not answered: Calls are forwarded if no one answers after several ring tones.
- If busy: Calls are forwarded if the terminal is busy.
> Send.
On the call forwarding of the fixed network connection:.
A connection to the telephone network is established to enable/disable call forwarding.
> Press the key after receiving confirmation from the fixed network.
How to activate call forwarding to an internal phone with a Gigaset IP phone?
It is possible to forward all internal callsdirected to a cordless phone’s receiving connectionto another cordless phone.
> Network-services > Accept > Divert > Accept > Lín. Internal > Accept .
Status: Enabled / Disabled Disabled
To terminal: > Select an internal user.
A No handset is displayed if you have not previously set any internal call forwarding or if the previously set handset is no longer registered.
Delay: None / 10 sec. / 20 sec. / 30 sec.30 sec.
Delay time to accept the call. If the call is not to be forwarded directly, select the delay duration here. Enter None. and the call will not be indicated on the handset but will be forwarded immediately..
> Save.
Internal call forwarding does not allow forwarding chaining, i.e. if calls are forwarded to another handset (e.g. MT1) on which a call forwarding is activated (e.g. to MT2), this second forwarding will not be activated. Calls are signaled on the MT1 handset.
NOTES
- A call is logged in the call list for the cordless handset that has been forwarded.
- If a call is forwarded to a cordless handset that is not locatable (e.g., the cordless handset is turned off), the call will be rejected after a short period of time.
How to configure the Gigaset voice mailbox?
Access the Gigaset Voicemail function by first pressing on the control key of the handset.
In the phone functions menu and using the arrow keys, select Answering machine and press OK.
The following available options will now be displayed:
1. How to configure networked answering machines with a Gigaset IP phone?
Using the arrow keys, select Network answering machines and press OK.
Change the Status from Disabled to Enabled using the right left arrow keys .
Locate Networked answering machine and using the numeric keys of our terminal, enter the telephone number of the networked answering machine (this telephone number will be provided by the operator and must be stored in the telephone).
2. How to listen to voice mail messages with a Gigaset IP phone?
Once the Network Answering Machine has been configured, it is possible to listen to the received messages here. Select the option and press the OK key.
